In Barrie caring for your lawn can be a little tricky and time consuming and, you might think that it is not the right to think about it. Here are some tips to help you out:
Do Not Stop Mowing
The first tip is that you should regularly mow the lawn and keep watering it on a daily basis. As the season comes to an end, set your blade setting to low, as it will ensure that the grass gets enough sunlight, which will prevent the blades from turning brown. Other than this, make sure that you do not cut off more than one third of the grass blades.
Fertilize the Lawn
A lot of people say that the best time to get the soil fertilized is during the fall season because that is the time when the grass grows slowly. When you will fertilize the lawn during this time, then the grass roots tend to grow quickly. Furthermore, the fertilizers will provide the nutrients, and that will help the grass to be healthy in the upcoming spring. It is recommended that you wait until late fall to do this, and then apply the fertilizer to the grass. Just make sure that you cover the entire area. This might take long, but you can take the help of a drop spreader, as that gets the job done in a consistent manner.
Get the Soil Aerated
Get the soil aerated so that the grass gets ample water, fertilizer, and oxygen. You can get a walk behind aerator as that will get the job done in an efficient manner. These gas powered machines usually take out dirt and punches holes into the ground. If you are pressed for time, then you can get a contractor to get this job done.
Rake the Leaves
It is important to rake the leaves on a regular basis. You might be tempted to wait until all the leaves have fallen down, but this is not a good idea as the leaves tend to get wet from the rain and cleaning them becomes hard.
Control the Weeds
This is a great time to get rid of the weeds. You might not know it, but weeds tend to absorb all the energy during the fall/winter season. Since they absorb everything, it is a good idea to use herbicides so that the weeds don’t return for a long time.
Fill in the Bald Spots
Use the time to fill the bald spots with the help of a lawn repair mixture. Make sure you pick a high quality mixture that has organic nutrients and grass seed. In order to apply it, use a rake on the bald spot and then spread the mixture over it. After this, water the area, and continue doing so for the next few days.
Care for your lawn in the best way with these tips!
