Picking the right paint colour doesn't need to be stressful.

The fundamental part of any interior design project is patience!

Don't rush in making decisions. Carefully consider the "look and feel" you are trying to achieve.

I've compiled a list of expert tips on how to pick the perfect paint colour for your interiors.

1. Before you pick colour options, consider your existing fabrics, textures, floor colours and accent furniture. All aspects of the room should inspire your colour palette. Coordinate at least three colours that already exist in the room and match them up with your favourite shades.
   
   
2. Paint swatches and design brochures from your favourite paint brand are a great way to explore the possibilities of colours you may not have considered otherwise.
   
   While trying to decide on the perfect shade, consider a colour palette that combines various shades of your single favourites colours for a polished look.
   
   If you find a colour you love in a magazine or a particular fabric, your local paint store can customize that colour for you!
   
   
3. Lighting makes a significant impact on how your paint colour will look. Each temperature of light brings out a colour undertone. Rooms can "look" and "feel" so different during the day and the night.
   
   Once you find a colour palette that may work, ask your local paint shop for small samples. Paint small sections on each wall and check on them throughout the day. If you're happy with the colour in natural and artificial light - celebrate!
   
   
4. The finish of the paint is another huge factor that will affect the overall look and feel of the room. Here are some of the options:

• Modern and sophisticated Flat finish is your least shiny option. It may be challenging to clean scuffs and stains, so I don't recommend it for kitchens and bathrooms.
• Eggshell is a low lustre finish. It looks beautiful in living and dining rooms.
• A Satin finish is easy to clean and is the most popular choice for high-traffic areas like hallways and mudrooms.
• The Semi-gloss finish has a subtle shine and is also easy to clean. It's perfect for kitchens and bathrooms.
• If you're looking for a shiny and polished look a, High-gloss finish is your best choice. A good quality high gloss paint will be stain-resistant and easily cleaned. It's also an excellent choice for kitchens and bathrooms.
