If you're lucky enough to live in cottage country, I've come up with a list of things to do in the Simcoe County area. From enjoying the beautiful vast landscapes in summer to fun family activities in the winter, art galleries and various festivals, there's something for everyone!
Sunnidale Park offers 48.5-acres and is located in Barrie’s northwest corner. This park was originally home to the Barrie Country Club. Today, the park features playground equipment, the Dorian Parker Community Centre, the Barrie Arboretum and great trails.
Copeland forest offers trails from 2km to 13km. The trails are ideal for the beginner cyclist and with its vast variety of trails you can tailor a custom route just for you. Bonus: No motorized vehicles are permitted.
Sunset International Speedway starting the first weekend in May to the end of September, host over 100 of Ontario's best Stock Car Drivers, in different classes and divisions every weekend. With seating for over 3,000 it also accommodates wheelchair access. Each year they pay it forward to charities by raising awareness and money at all of their races.
The MacLaren Art Centre is Simcoe County’s regional public art gallery.
The Gallery has a permanent collection of 27,408 works of art! With its year-round programming of art exhibitions, educational activities and special events you can enjoy free self-guided activities for families, and gallery guides for adults and children in French and English.
Ski destinations in the Simcoe County, in the heart of Ontario's natural snow belt feature state-of-the-art snow-making facilities to ensure a powder-perfect experience. Barrie's ski hills are great for both the veteran adventure-seeker. Check out Snow Valley Ski Resort, Horseshoe Resort, and Mount St. Louis Moonstone.
