Established in 1994 when many of the towns that are a part of the current township amalgamated. Originally known for it’s major role in lumber and agriculture.
Clearview Township consists of:

- Creemore
- Dunedin
- Duntroon
- Glen Huron
- New Lowell
- Nottawa
- Old Sunnidale
- Singhampton
- Stayner
The Township borders the Town of Collingwood, Town of Wasaga Beach, Township of Springwater, a portion of Essa, Canadian Forces Base Borden (CFB), Adjala-Tosorontio, Grey Highlands and The Blue Mountains. The Township includes all types and styles of housing such as both in rural and suburban, detached, semi0detached, townhouse, link, condominium, land leases and farm/vacant land.
Recreational activities and locations are both indoor and outdoor - and are well known in the area. There is an Ecopark (Clearview EcoPark), located in Stayner. It includes public green space and an accessible pond path. There are fourteen (14) different parks with trails, three (3) provincial parks, three (3) conservation areas and three (3) major trail systems that are governed by the Province of Ontario.

Three (3) school boards are in the Township of Clearview:
- Simcoe County District School Board
- Simcoe - Muskoka Catholic District School Board
- Conseil Scolaire de District Catholique Centre-Sud
All of which make up for nine (9) primary schools and three (3) secondary schools within Clearview.
There are also two (2) main community centres.
- Creemore Community Centre and Arena - located in Creemore and is fully accessible.
- Stayner Arena and Community Centre, located in Stayner and is also fully accessible.
